Berlin Fediverse Day 2025
I went to the Berlin Fediverse Day. Here are some notes, because not everything is about overly long posts:
- Bookwyrm is something I should check out. And it uses Inventaire for unique book and author IDs (which means it indirectly uses Wikidata). The presentation by Jascha was delightful.
- I liked a lot how flohmarkt turned out, as it came out of a Prototype Fund project.
- One of the things that flohmarkt is working on are semantic tags for items. This is also something that is on my mind a lot. I may elaborate on my ideas on this topic soon, but for the time being I have to leave this as an enigmatic reference.
- Tim Pritlove shared his enthusiasm about Elixir and its ecosystem with me in the break between talks. Notes for myself: Explore the Ash Framework. And think about how capabilities for parsing (possibly incomplete) binary data streams in Elixir/Erlang can be used in digital forensics.
- Other things that I want to point out: The ongoing efforts on cooperative legal structures for Fediverse services an the inspiring talk on how the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) uses the Fediverse.
